This vase is a mash-up of several techniques, underglazes and glazes. The texture you see is caused by bouncing a tool off the pot as it spins on the wheel. This is called “chattering” though what I did was more like “gouging.” I then applied blue and white underglazes. But after they dried and I trimmed the pot, I felt there wasn’t enough drama. So I bisque fired it, then clear-glazed the underglaze and dripped Sapphire Float and Deep Firebrick glazes from the neck. I find it … strangely compelling. It’s 7” tall and about 3” wide.
