About me

My name is Dixie and for most of my life, I worked with words and ideas. Now, I’m learning to tell stories with clay and glaze.

I started by taking classes at Warwick Pottery and still do. Now I have a studio in my house. The upside is that I touch clay every day. The downside is, my house overfloweth with pottery. Thus, this website. I’m a hobby potter and my pots are made for the love of making vs making a living. And as much as I love making, I love matching pots and people even more. Hope you see something you like, and if you want to own it, I’m honored.

About my studio

I throw pots on the wheel in my studio and fire them in my kiln. That means I’m the artist, the studio manager and the kiln master. The wheel and electric kiln were part of a package I bought from Bailey Ceramics in Kingston, NY. I’m very pleased with my equipment. If you are interested in setting up your own studio and want to hear about about how I did it, I’m happy to share.

I typically use Amaco Potters Choice Cone 5-6 series glazes, Amaco Celadons and Mayco Stoneware glazes. I’m experimenting with Speedball glazes. For underglazing, I primarily use Amaco Velvet Underglazes.
